Our principles for responding to official requests for user information.

Our approach
We review requests for valid authority, scope, jurisdiction, necessity, and proportionality. We challenge defective or overbroad requests where appropriate, disclose only responsive information, and preserve a decision record.
Notice and emergencies
We notify affected people before disclosure unless prohibited by law or notice creates a verified risk of harm. Emergency requests are assessed individually and must identify the imminent danger and information sought.
